Following a successful engineering career in the Royal Navy where he attained the rank of Commander, John joined Rolls Royce & Associates as Business Development Manager. In 1996 he joined the staff of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers to work with the Transport and Manufacturing Industries Divisions where he has managed many successful projects including Formula Student and the Manufacturing Excellence Awards. He is now Head of Transport, responsible for co-ordinating the whole of the Institution’s transport programme. John also manages the Microsystems Manufacturing Association (MMA), the Rapid Prototyping Manufacturing Association (RPMA), and is a Director of the British Gear Association (BGA).
