Prof. Richard Halliwell


Professor Richard Halliwell obtained both his veterinary degree and his PhD from the University of Cambridge. He spent five years in small animal practice and the remainder of his career has been spent in academia - at the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Florida, and latterly the University of Edinburgh. He served as Dean for six years, and is now Professor Emeritus. He is currently a part-time Professor at the School of Veterinary Medicine, St George’s University, Grenada.

His areas of specialty are immunology and dermatology, and he has authored in excess of 100 papers in these disciplines.

Richard has served as President of both the American and European Colleges of Veterinary Dermatology, the European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education and the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, and is currently President of the World Congress of Veterinary Dermatology Association. At the recent World Congress of Veterinary Dermatology in Vienna, he was awarded the Lifetime Career Achievement Award of the European College of Veterinary Dermatology.
