There are strict rules regarding the duration for displaying legal supers — or small print — on TV ads in the UK.
The duration of hold can depend on the subject of your ad and the type and length of the legal super. To assist you, we’ve created this tool enabling you to instantly work out the requirements for your legal supers.
Effective 1 March 2019, the rules around Super Imposed Text in ads changed and there is now a longer recognition period required when calculating the duration of hold. An additional two-second recognition time is now required to be added to all significant information.
For example:
Under the previous rules: 16 words = 0.2 + 3 = 6.2 seconds
Under the new rules: 16 words = 0.2 + 3 = 6.2 + 2 = 8.2 seconds
